Nearby is CLUB Nokia, not Nokia Theater--which is very nice facility. The balcony was SPARSELY populated, oddly somewhat funny in an embarrassing way. This band is having drawing power trouble, indicated by the numerous empties in general.
Good sightlines, however, the emptiness was good for us and the 300 or so others in the balcony, as we had nice room to move and breathe.
Artistically, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas was "back together" with the original members intact this night and the group did well. Unfortunately, some members did that "whispering into each other's ears" thing during instrumental bridges, giving us the feeling of being "separated" from the band--maybe an innocent action by the band members, but not respectful to the audience.
Direct communication to the audience about the matter at hand rather than the members delivering anecdotes about other venues and other performances could have given us more "connection." Theatrics were minimal, and we felt a bit outside the whole situation.
A CONSTANT distraction was the roadie who kept on entering the stage to give or grab an instrument or to fix a cymbal. With minimal equipment overall, we saw FAR too much of the roadie. AWFUL intrusions, breaking the "flow and mood" of the show.
AC DC Concert was unbelievably awesome
If you closed your eyes and listened for a while, then the years just rolled back, they are better than ever. My only regret is that I was unable to afford to bring my Nephew and Grandson because I have enstilled the appreciation of great Rock-n-Roll music by Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by me. There is not another band that could have performed their own old and new music so perfectly. Angus must sleep with his Guitar because it is a part of his soul and you can just feel the music when he plays. When Mannheim Steamroller Christmas started, you were on your feet and would not sit again for the next two hours. Gave me chills at how great they are.
